Proving a government app can feel like world-class fintech.

The National Pension Scheme is India’s default retirement rail, trusted by millions yet hobbled by legacy UX: dense forms, jargon walls, taps that went nowhere. With a digital-first population surging, the experience had to catch up.

Lazy Eight partnered with Protean on a ground-up reboot. This wasn’t cosmetic; it was population-scale service design. We mapped actual user behaviour, tore out surplus steps and rebuilt every flow around clarity and confidence. Jargon became plain language. Modular UI components and gentle micro-animations guided users through decisions that once felt cryptic.

The new NPS app shipped with polished fintech gloss—fast loads, biometric entry, live dashboards—and accessibility baked in for older savers. Result: app-store ratings jumped, support calls fell and millions now manage retirement savings with the ease of checking a wallet balance.

For us, NPS is proof that good design and thoughtful tech can upgrade public infrastructure for an entire nation, not just a brand’s bottom line.
